Project Overview
Famunity is a digital platform designed to bring families closer by simplifying communication, event planning, and shared responsibilities. This mobile-first app helps families manage their lives in one centralized space — from calendars and chats to reminders and shared media.

Sophie Müller – A working mom struggling to balance calendars for work and family, needs real-time syncing and less stress.
Luca Rossi – A co-parent aiming for fair, transparent scheduling with his ex-partner, values clarity and communication.
Ana Dubois – A stay-at-home mom managing a large household, seeks control, structure, and time for self-care.
As part of the research phase, we created user personas to better understand and empathize with our target audience. These personas were based on interviews, surveys, and observational insights gathered from real parents and caregivers who are actively seeking educational and developmental opportunities for their children These personas guided every stage of the design, ensuring we addressed real pain points.

Crazy 8 and The big picture
As part of the ideation phase, I designed a Family Calendar app to streamline household scheduling and improve communication. The concept emerged through sketching exercises like Crazy 8s, where I explored user-friendly layouts and essential functionality for families of all sizes.
The sketches on the right represent early wireframes where we visualized the core functions—like calendars, to-do lists, and scheduling tools—to create a user-centered solution.

Timely push notifications ensure no one misses an appointment, birthday, or chore.
Shared to-do lists
Organize tasks like groceries, homework, and household duties. Easily assign tasks to individuals.
Role-based access control
Define user roles like Parent, Child, or Guest to customize what each family member can view or edit. Parents have full control, while kids and caregivers have limited, safe access to events and tasks.
Conflict detection & resolution
Automatically detects overlapping events between family members. Get real-time alerts and suggestions to reschedule, ensuring smoother coordination.

Save time by scheduling repeating events such as weekly classes or monthly payments.
Takeaways
Designing the Family Calendar app taught me the importance of putting users at the center of every decision. I focused on creating an experience that feels simple and intuitive, even for children or non-tech-savvy users. By introducing role-based access, I ensured the app could adapt to different family dynamics while maintaining privacy and clarity. Adding smart features like conflict detection elevated the experience beyond basic scheduling. Throughout the process, I aimed to strike a balance between functionality and a warm, approachable design that reflects the tone of family life.
